Located in Antwerp's Groen Kwartier, August is a former Augustinian cloister transformed into a modern sanctuary by renowned Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen. This exquisite space now houses a hotel, bar, restaurant, wellness center, shop, and gardens, offering a peaceful retreat in the city.
We had the opportunity to visit August and were captivated by its beauty and tranquility, quickly making it one of our favourite spots in Antwerp.
The August compound masterfully blends historical reverence with contemporary aesthetics, creating an environment that honours its roots while providing a haven for guests. One of the most striking features is the former nuns’ private chapel, now repurposed as the main lounge and bar area. This space retains its serene atmosphere, inviting guests to relax and socialise in a unique setting.
