Near KINTO headquarters in Shiga prefecture, KINTO FARM began in the spring of 2023 with a desire to further explore a lifestyle in close connection with nature and the seasons.
We are excited to share more about our farm and our ongoing work.

Where Our Roots Are
Hikone City in Shiga has been home to KINTO since its founding in 1972, and it remains where many of our team members live. The farm is located close to our brand headquarters on land that was once rice paddies, now transformed into a field for growing herbs and vegetables. The view from the farm is calm and peaceful, with trains from the local Ohmi Railway passing through the scenery.

Cultivating in Connection with the Land
We are committed to cultivating our farm in a way that feels comfortable and balanced—for both the land and for us. KINTO members are working closely with Iiri Farm, also in Shiga, to pursue the best agricultural practices for our land. We grow fragrant, flavorful, and vibrant herbs using methods suited to our land and lifestyle. From sourcing seedlings to maintaining the farm and harvesting, we continuously observe and care for plants with attention to detail. Through the farm, we hope to strengthen our ties within the local community and deepen our roots here.

Nurturing in Harmony with Nature
At KINTO FARM, we cultivate herbs and vegetables without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Paying attention to the individual characteristics of what we grow, we work to create an environment that minimizes stress for both the plants and ourselves. We adjust soil composition, timing of harvest, and processing methods, dedicating time and care. In the long term, we aim to further integrate sustainable practices.

From KINTO, Inspiration for Enjoying Nature & the Seasons in Everyday Life
KINTO has been creating products that complement everyday life—whether it’s teapots, tableware, glassware, or flower vases. Through the things we grow on the farm, we aim to offer new ways for people to connect with nature and experience the beauty of the seasons. By bringing together our experience in product development and agriculture, we look forward to evolving as a brand, creating new things that inspire even more joy and connection with nature.
